Mitosis
Mitosis is a process that divides a single cell into two identical daughter cells, allowing an organism to grow and repair damaged tissues. Virtually all cells in our body undergo cell division, some do it only once and some do it multiple times in our lifespan. Mitosis happens in several steps, called phases. First, the cell’s DNA is duplicated to create an identical copy, so that both daughter cells will inherit an identical set of chromosomes and will carry the same genetic information. The two sets of duplicated chromosomes and the rest of the cell content are then split between the two daughter cells. Telophase is the final step of the process when the division is almost complete.
