Teresa Zgoda
Teri Zgoda learned the various techniques required to take scientific photos – both macro and under the microscope at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she took up a field of study called biomedical photographic communications. During her time at RIT, Teri served as a microscopy intern at the Marine Biological Laboratory, where she assisted the students taking the course in photographing the curiosities they were observing under the microscope. It was here, that she, along with fellow intern Teresa Kugler, created the image that would go on to place first in the 2019 Small World competition. In fact, Zgoda's images and videos have been recognized by the Nikon Small World judges multiple times, dating back to an Image of Distinction award in the the 2015 competition.
