Kazi Fazle Rabbi
Kazi is a Ph.D. candidate at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, where he is working on developing advanced functionalized surfaces that are anti-icing as well as highly repelling to liquids. His research requires extensive characterization of these surfaces under light, confocal, electron, and even atomic force microscopy. Using his research visualizations, previously he has won multiple Art of Science competitions in his university. He has great passion for photography as well as cinematography and enjoys using his research as a source for pursuing this hobby.
Using light microscopy, he has captured hundreds of visualization of how different liquids interact with the functionalized surfaces he has developed in his research lab. Sometimes the phenomena are too fast for visible eye and requires high-speed imaging with perfect lighting conditions. While conducting one of his experimentations Kazi along with his colleague Dr. Xiao Yan, were able to capture the winning video for Nikon SWIM 2020.
