Martin L. Scott is director of biomedical photography at the Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, New York. He has lectured extensively on photomicrography, as well on the sciences (especially chemistry and optics) underlying photography. He is past president of the Biological Photographic Association and a member of the New York Microscopical Society, the State Microscopical Society of Illinois and the the Royal Microscopical Society.

Steven Chamberlain is professor and chairman of the Department of Bioengineering at Syracuse University. He is also head of anatomy at the university’s Institute for Sensory Research. He specializes in analyzing neural feedback pathways from the brain to the eye, and in the biological origin of minerals. His photographs of both neurons and minerals have been widely published. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals and is a member of numerous professional societies including Sigma XI, the Society of Neuroscience and the Mineralogical Association of Canada.

Beth Wismar is emeritus associate professor of anatomy at The Ohio State University where she has taught histology in the medical, dental and graduate programs. In addition, she is an adjunct faculty member of the Center for Creative Studies at the State University of New York in Buffalo, and a recipient of the Service and Commitment Award of the Creative Education Foundation. She is the author of numerous auto-tutorial and computer-assisted instructional programs in histology; her research interests are in both the morphology of the septic lung and in human learning styles.
