Martin L. Scott is an advisor in scientific applications of photography at the Eastman Kodak Company, specializing in photomicrography, medical photography and archival properties of photographic materials. He has done research in graphic arts processes, and has a patent in gravure printing technique. He designed films for photogrammetry and infrared photography in color. He is co-founder of the Rochester Microscopical Society.

He is a registered biological photographer, a Fellow of the Biological Photographic Association of which he is the past president, former editor of their Journal, and a Louis Schmidt laureate. He is also a member of the Health Sciences Communications Association, the Association of Medical Illustrations, and the Federal Design Council.

Has won 57 awards for microscopy including four Charles Foster Memorial Citations. He is a registered Biological Photographer, a Fellow of the Biological Photographic Association, a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society, and only holder in the U.S. of the Diploma of the Society. He is also technical editor of “Functional Photography” magazine for which he writes a regular column.

He also teaches courses in microscopy and photomicrography for the McCrone Research Institute. He is a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society and member of the State Microscopical Society of Illinois, the New York Microscopical Society, the Postal Microscopy Society, the Quekett Microscopical Club, the American Association of Feed Microscopists, the American Scientific Glassblowers Society, and the American Chemical Society. he has published innumerable articles, books, and pamphlets on microscopy.
